At the age of
15, she made an
attempt to go to
the wilderness
to be in
solitude with
the Lord alone;
but it was not
realized. |

Hence returned
to the midst of
the people of
the parish. She
lived a life of
prayer and
penance at home
and served the

Bl.
Mariam
Thresia
discerned
the
divine
intervention
in her
life
with the
help of
her
spiritual
director.
Her
desire
to hide
within
the
walls of
a
convent
remained
strong
and she
continued
searching
the
means to
realize
it.
Meanwhile
she had
to
undergo
severe
dark
nights
of the
soul. At
a time
when she
was
having
intense
spiritual
afflictions,
terrible
diabolic
attacks
and
extra
ordinary
interior
experiences,
she was
fortunate
to get
Rev. Fr.
Joseph Vithayathil
as her
spiritual
guide
whom she
met at a
retreat
in
Puthenchira
in 1902. |

The official

the Holy Family was
made by the
Bishop on 14,
May 1914 during
a solemn
liturgical
service attended
by a large
crowd. Thresia
made her final
commitment and
received the
religious name
Sr. Mariam
Thresia and her
three companions
were accepted as
postulants.
Mariam Thresia
was made the
Mother Superior
of the
Congregation of
the Holy Family
and Rev. Fr.
Joseph
Vithayathil,
