Blessed Mariam Thresia
whom God called ad
appeared under the arch
of time span to reform
the families. On 26
April 1876 in the
Diocese of Irinjalakuda
at Puthenchira in
Chiramal Mankidiyan
family a noble treasure,
a beacon light was born
– Thresia. |

She took the
challenges of
her special
mission of
Family
Apostolate to
win souls for
Christ when the
world denied it
in the mid
nineteenth
century. Not for
worldly
appreciation but
for the love of
Christ she
stepped into
families of the
sick in need of
her service. |

It was
her
fascination
to
imitate
Jesus
carrying
the
cross,
in the
childhood
games.
Her best
loved
entertainment
was to
crawl on
her
hands
and
knees
bearing
a heavy
stone on
her back
meditating
on Jesus
carrying
the
cross. |

Thresia
had
little
formal
education
but she
simply
entrusted
everything
upon God
to be
moulded
according
to his
plan. A
serene
joy
beamed
forth
from the
face of
Thresia
when the
parish
priest
entrusted
her to
teach
catechism
to the
children
in the
parish. |

It is surprising
to hear that
even in her
childhood she
was in the habit
of lying on a
stone without
mat and on
pebbles or glass
pieces striven
on the floor.
She would lie
and roll on
thorny bushes
and beat her
body with thorny
stick. |
